Gratitude: A Gift
that Nurtures Compassion
Wow! Our theme for this year – “A Time for Compassion” – is a lovely fit with the essence of the Thanksgiving holiday this month – which is a time for gratitude.
Gratitude can inspire compassion, and compassion can amplify gratitude!
When we pause and purposefully notice and appreciate goodness – in people, in experiences, in the world – we can connect with feelings of empathy and positivity, and even a desire to move from attitude to action in helping others.
And when we express appreciation and practice compassion, our feelings and words and actions can help shift our focus and energy away from challenges.
Gratitude and compassion do not eliminate challenges, but together, they can nurture a cycle of positivity. That positivity can be a gift of strength – for ourselves, and for others.
As we move toward and beyond Thanksgiving here in the United States, we at Mattie’s Foundation have much to be thankful for.
Despite being a small volunteer-based non-profit, we are celebrating 20 years of empowering people to choose peace, live with purpose, and connect through conversation and play.
We are grateful for all those who support us – through one-time or monthly donations, as sponsors for our programs and events, by joining one of our Peace Clubs, or even by sharing our work and website with others.
Peace matters, and so do you.
