Mattie penned “For Our World” just before midnight on September 11, 2001 - as a hopeful and prayerful response to the tragedy of that day, after losing friends in the attacks.
He envisioned the poem as a universal message of peace - hoping that one day, it would be translated into more than 100 languages.
To honor this vision, Mattie's Peace Foundation launched the For Our World Campaign in 2011 on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 - gathering around 50 translations to share globally.
As the 25th anniversary approaches in 2026, we are re-launching the campaign - seeking more translations to help spread this message of peace worldwide.
We invite anyone who can help translate the poem to contribute and support Mattie’s vision and mission of peace.
